Welcome to Calvary Baptist Church.  We are located near the intersection of I-80 and Briggs Street (see map), tucked away between Joliet and New Lenox.  Our church exists to passionately pursue the glory of God by Gathering for the Gospel, Growing in the Gospel, and Giving out the Gospel.  It is our desire that everything we do from songs we sing to curriculum we use with our children be for the exaltation of the great name of our God and proclamation of His glorious gospel.

Our Sunday School hour runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  When you arrive, you and your family will be greeted and directed to a variety of classes where you can informally study the Bible with other members of our church family.   Our Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF) provide you with the opportunity to look carefully at the Bible’s teaching on topics such as marriage, parenting, finances or doctrine.  At the same time, child care is provided for children up to 2 years of age in our nursery while age appropriate classes are available for pre-school through high-school students.

Between Sunday School and the Worship Service there is a brief time for fellowship over a cup of coffee to allow you to get acquainted with members of our church family.

At 10:45 a.m. we gather in the auditorium to sing, pray and hear God’s word together. Our services usually start with a reading from the Bible followed by a time of congregational singing.  During the service there may also be some announcements regarding upcoming church events, testimonies as to how God is working in the lives of our church family, or special prayer requests given by a member of our pastoral team.  A hallmark of our Sunday gatherings is the preaching of God’s word.   Every week one of our pastors strives to help us better understand God’s word by teaching us directly from the Scripture (usually working through a book of the Bible).  Children of all ages are welcome in the service at the parent’s discretion, but a children’s ministry is provided for children up to age 6.

Throughout the week on various evenings members of our church family meet in Community Groups to study the Bible, pray and encourage one another.  These groups provide an opportunity for men and women in our church to connect on a more personal level by sharing both the joys and challenges of life.  These groups meet both at the church facility as well as in homes in the greater Joliet area.  Locations are found here.  A portion of the meeting is spent with the children involved to help demonstrate family worship. Then there is time for the children to be taught separately while the adults meet.  If you would like to visit or get plugged into a Community Group contact Pastor Ryan, or feel free to join us any Wednesday evening.

We hope to see you soon.
