In Ephesians 5:18-19 Paul tells the church to “be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.” Certainly from the last portion of this verse our praise is to be directed upwards to the Lord. Calvary desires to be God-exalting in its worship.
One of the primary aims of corporate worship is the proclamation and experience of God’s greatness and goodness. Along with the upward focus, this passage also stresses another aim of corporate worship: building one another up. In the ministry of music, Calvary desires to be drawing each other into the knowledge and experience of God’s greatness and goodness. This motivates our music choices to contain biblical depth and diversity.
Our desire is that our music ministry would be God-centered, Spirit-driven, and community-experienced. We would love to have you come and worship with us.
