If after all my prodding you still find yourself unwilling or unable to expend the time and energy to tackle the full bodied Owen of Overcoming Sin and Temptation, there is a decaffeinated version that distills well Dr. Owen's work. The book The Enemy Within by Kris Lungaard is a short extremely readable summary of the essence of Owen's theology on the mortification of sin. If you would like to familiarize yourself with this doctrine, but cannot take on the big book I would highly recommend reading Lungaard's work. I have read it several times and found it helpful on every occasion.
